Marine Underwriting (Insurance Industry, Maritime/Shipping, No experience required, Max 6k) (ID: 695905)

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Team Leader and members to review and prepare underwriting and renewal information.
• Underwrite simpler risks to maintain a profitable portfolio of marine business.
• Prepare marine raters for discussions with the team and management.
• Address inquiries and manage mid-term changes for existing accounts.
• Liaise with intermediaries and follow up on new quotations and renewals.
• Ensure proper passing of instructions to Policy Administration with all necessary documentation.
• Conduct sanction checks as required.
• Check policies and broking slips for accuracy.
• Maintain records, schedules, and statistics effectively.
• Assist in compiling, analysing, and preparing monthly reports for business reviews.
• Determine pricing and terms within underwriting authority, ensuring compliance with guidelines for new business and renewals.
• Monitor loss ratios through account stewardship, loss control activities, and follow up on large claims.
• Evaluate facultative reinsurance needs and coordinate within underwriting and risk control guidelines.
• Stay informed about competition, market conditions, and underwriting environments, sharing insights with the team.

Requirements:

• Relevant experience in marine insurance underwriting with direct intermediary engagement.
• Solid understanding of marine insurance operations and underwriting procedures.
• Candidates with no prior experience but relevant degree is welcome to apply
• Familiarity with marine classes, products, and policy wording.
• Awareness of risk assessment, laws, and legislation related to the marine insurance sector.
