Head of Data Governance, Financial Services
You will work closely with senior stakeholders, technology teams, and business units to embed strong governance practices and enable trusted, well-managed data to support business and regulatory objectives.
Responsibilities:As the Head of Data Governance, your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, including data policies, standards, and operating models. You will oversee data quality management, metadata management, data lineage, and data ownership frameworks, ensuring consistency and accountability across the organization.
You will partner with risk, compliance, and technology teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and data protection standards. Additionally, you will lead initiatives to improve data transparency, drive data stewardship programs, and implement governance tools and controls.
You will be responsible for stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment between business priorities and governance objectives, while promoting a strong data governance culture across the firm.
Requirements:To be successful in this role, you should have at least 10-12 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles within financial services, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership position. A strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, data privacy, and regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR or local regulations) is essential.
Experience implementing data governance tools and working with modern data platforms is highly desirable. You should possess strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organization-wide initiatives.
