As a Mechanical Fitter in a Processing Plant environment, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment used in the processing of raw materials or production of goods. You will work closely with the operations team and other maintenance personnel to ensure the smooth operation of machinery and equipment, minimising downtime and maximising productivity.

Job Description:

• Assemble and install mechanical components and equipment according to engineering specifications, technical drawings, and manufacturer's instructions.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment to identify and address potential issues before they result in breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical faults and malfunctions in processing plant equipment, and perform necessary repairs or replacements to restore functionality.
• Monitor and adjust machine settings and parameters to optimise performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and production operators to coordinate repairs, upgrades, and modifications to machinery or equipment.
• Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inspections, in maintenance logs or computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Follow safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment, and report any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior mechanics or apprentices, as needed.
• Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in mechanical systems and equipment.
• Timely close all work orders assigned by supervisor in CMMS.
• Any other task assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum N level or secondary school and above.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship or trade school program in mechanical fitting or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a processing plant or similar industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, components, and systems, including pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and welding equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, kneeling, lifting heavy objects, and working at heights.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures related to working in an industrial environment.
