Junior Buyer & Merchandising Executive (Gifts, Trendy Toys & Lifestyle)

We are looking for a commercially driven Junior Buyer & Merchandising Sr. Executive / Assistant Manager to support our purchasing and product development function for the gifts, toys and collectibles segment. This roles combines both creative and quantitative skillsets.

• Source and curate new product selections, brands / IPs. Coordinate with factory suppliers.
• Monitor sales performance of product categories, analyse trends and data.
• Manage inventory levels, replenishment, clearance. Perform stock allocation across store and online locations.
• Follow up and through the purchasing process, handling communications, and price negotiation.
• Collaborate with other teams on product assortment planning and product development ideas.
• Prepare and analyse reports, assess profitability of new products, recommend improvements to drive sales performance, and support other business functions, including for events and seasonal projects.

• At least 2 - 3 years experience in a relevant role in the retail sector, with a track record in a merchandising / Buyer's function
• Relevant education (degree or diploma) in Business, Marketing or Accountancy - a quantitative background in basic finance and costing analysis is required
• Spot product and market trends to drive retail and e-commerce sales
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel is a must. Including use of basic formulas to assess costs, and functions such as V look-up etc. to analyze product / inventory performance
• Enthusiastic about curating product categories, awareness of market trends
• Able to work under pressure and cohesively in a team
• Willing to travel 1 - 2 times annually with the team for purchasing trips, site visits etc.

Note: Candidates with 3 years (or more) relevant experience may be considered for the Assistant Manager role. Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.
