Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate, Estate Planning & Compliance Support to join our team. This role involves drafting Wills, handling related administrative tasks, and liaising directly with estate planners and clients, with occasional role in supporting our Compliance officer on compliance related matters.The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced setting, is meticulous, and is capable of managing multiple responsibilities with professionalism and care.
Key Responsibilities:
Will Drafting (Main Role)- Draft Wills based on client instructions.
- Check and vet submitted documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Liaise with franchisees and clients regarding Will drafts and revisions.
- Interpret and understand instructions, and accurately transpose them into draft documents.
- Prepare final documents, including Wills and supporting documents.
- Assist in the attestation process, including signing as a witness.
- Verbally translate the contents of the Will to clients in a language they understand.
- Prepare invoices for services rendered.
- Handle printing, scanning, and document management.
- Process and verify proof of payment.
- Perform other ad-hoc administrative duties as required.
- Work closely with internal team members and cross-functional departments.
- Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program, including Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing, Regulatory Reporting, including FATCA, and CRS reporting, and any regulatory policy as required by MAS.
- Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them
- Draft and revise company policies
- Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses
- Evaluate business activities (e.g. investments) to assess compliance risk
- Collaborate with auditors and HR when needed
- Set plans to manage a crisis or compliance violation
- Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices
- Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance
- Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals
- Assist the group compliance officer, and the board of directors of the company in preparation of any compliance and/or legal documents.
- A minimum of a Degree in any discipline.
- Prior experience in a legal or paralegal setting is preferred.
- Excellent command of English (proficiency in other languages is an advantage, especially for translation).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling documents.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
- Experience as a paralegal or working in a law firm or legal department.
- Meticulous, organised, and attentive to detail.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to learn, proactive, and hands-on.
- Easy to work with, dependable, and a strong team player.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
