What you will be working on
Be the source of courage and compassion. As a Fire and Rescue Specialist (FRS) with the SCDF, you'll be trained to become a motivated leader skilled in fire prevention, response, and investigation, as well as emergency rescue. You'll also be equipped with Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) skills.After foundational postings, exciting opportunities for further specialisation (e.g. Disaster Assistance Response Team, Hazardous Material Specialist, Marine Specialist) and skills upgrades across a myriad of career pathways await you.
As you progress in your career, you can expect to take up higher appointments such as Fire Station Deputy ROTA Commander or Fire & Rescue Instructor. Good performing FRS can look forward to accelerated advancement opportunities, with the potential for direct promotion to the rank of lieutenant and beyond.
Upon joining SCDF, you will secure stable full-time employment with an attractive remuneration package. Candidates can earn between $2,800 to $4,259, inclusive of monthly frontline allowances.
As a successful applicant, you will receive a $30,000 sign-on bonus (subject to eligibility) upon emplacement. You will also stand to receive benefits from a range of perks and privileges, including:

- Minimum GCE A-Level, Higher NITEC, Diploma from Polytechnic, IB, NUS High School, NAFA, LASELLE, ITE (except Culinary Arts)
- Male applicants must be PES A or B
- Minimum pass standard for IPPT
- For Pre-enlistees, there will be a 5-year Minimum Term of Engagement (MTE) bond in lieu of the National Service’s obligation.
