Our client is a Japanese bank specialising in financial services, with a strong focus on ship financing and general corporate banking. They are currently seeking an Officer, Operations (6 months contract) for maternity cover.

Reporting to: Head of Corporate Banking and Treasury

【 Responsibilities 】

The Operation team identifies and supports the Corporate Banking team's needs in ALL aspects of Operations on top of assisting the Accounting team with the following key Operation functions:

 A.  Loan and Deposit Administrations;
  • Ensure accurate entries into the accounting system;
  • Liaise with all related parties with regard;
  • Assist the Corporate Banking team in the safekeeping of legal documents;
  • Assist the Corporate Banking team in monitoring the timely receipt of legal documents and financial statements.
  • Assist the Corporate Banking team in inventory management of legal documents and financial statements; and
  • Inventory management of vessel insurance-related documents.
 B.  Loan, Deposit, and Trade Payments and Settlements;
  • Handle the drawdown, rate-fixing, repayment, prepayment, redemptions, etc. of loans, deposits, and trade;
  • Ensure accurate entries into the accounting system; &
  • Liaise with the staff of the Corporate Banking team on top of counterparties of correspondent and custodian banks.
 C.  Fund Transfers (inward and outward remittances);
  • Attending to any queries from customers/counterparties/staff of other departments (such as Corporate Banking team, Middle Office, Compliance, etc.) with regards to remittances;
  • Prepare and reconcile swift messages; &
  • Ensure accurate entries into the accounting system.
 D.  Customers’ Accounts (savings and fixed deposits);
  • Assisting the Corporate Banking team in the opening/updating/closing of customers’ savings/fixed deposit accounts by ensuring accurate and prompt entries into the accounting system;
  • Preparing the monthly statements to be vetted by the Corporate Banking team before deliveries to customers;
  • Handling inward and outward fund transactions concerning customers’ accounts; &
  • Attending to any queries from counterparties/staff of other teams (such as the Corporate Banking team, Middle Office, Compliance, etc.) with regards to the savings/fixed deposit accounts.
 E.  Prepare regular reporting of operational data; and
  • Filing of all documents
  • Prepare regular management reports on operations.
【 What you will receive 】

【 Requirements & Preferences 】
(Must)
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a bank in Singapore.
  • Experience in Bank Operations (related to loans, deposits, FX transactions, etc)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Accounting systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to start immediately or/short notice.
