Purpose:

The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of engineering and consultancy services across thermal power, renewable energy, and waste-to-energy (WTE) projects both in the areas of mechanical and/or process disciplines. The role provides technical support in design review, studies, and project execution across a range of consultancy services, including feasibility studies, technical advisory, Owner’s Engineer (OE), Lender’s Engineer (LE), and site activities.

The position offers exposure to multidisciplinary project environments and supports ensuring that mechanical systems meet project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities Area:

Responsibilities:

  • Support Technical Director and discipline lead in mechanical engineering activities across power and WTE projects.
  • Assist in technical reviews, analysis, and preparation of engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including Clients, EPC Contractors, and OEMs.
  • Support delivery of a range of consultancy services, including feasibility studies and concept development, technical due diligence and lender’s advisory (Lender’s Engineer), Owner’s Engineer assignments, Independent technical audits and condition assessments, Single Point of Failure (SPOF) studies and system reliability assessments, Vendor evaluation and technical bid assessment, Site inspections and witnessing of factory/site acceptance tests
  • Support reviewing EPC mechanical design deliverables, including gas turbine and steam turbine auxiliaries, Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG)systems, Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant systems (boilers, flue gas treatment, fuel handling, etc.), Balance of Plant (BoP) systems (cooling water, fuel gas, compressed air, etc.), Pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, Piping systems, layouts, and material specifications, Fire protection and HVAC systems
  • Support review and evaluate technical specifications, data sheets, vendor documentation, equipment sizing, selection, and performance guarantees, piping layouts, stress considerations, and materials selection
  • Support to perform and review covering plant performance modelling and benchmarking, Availability, reliability, and maintainability (RAM) studies, Heat and Mass Balance (HMB/HBD) and Water Balance Diagrams (WBD), Single Point Failure (SPOF) assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Identify mechanical design and interface risks across CCGT systems, WTE and Balance of Plant, Mechanical–electrical–control interfaces, Renewable integration (PV/Wind/BESS interfacing with grid-connected systems)
  • Support coordination between mechanical and other disciplines.
  • Prepare technical notes and design review comments, reports, calculations, and supporting documentation, meeting minutes and coordination records

Key Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of thermal power plant systems (CCGT/BoP).
  • Exposure to renewable energy systems (PV, Wind, BESS) is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications
  • Good communication and coordination abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and work in multi-disciplinary project environments.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under supervision.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of experience in power, energy, or industrial projects.
  • Experience or exposure to thermal power plant systems and/or renewable projects, engineering consultancy or EPC environment (preferred)
  • Familiarity with engineering standards (ASME, API, ISO, BS), basic design review and engineering workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with thermal modelling tools (e.g. GT PRO/ST PRO) is an advantage but not mandatory.
