A Milling Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining milling machines (manual and CNC), ensuring precision in machining processes, and performing quality checks to meet production standards. The role combines technical machining skills with inspection, teamwork, and adherence to safety and production schedules.
- Key Job Scope of Milling Technician
- Machine Setup & Operation
- Operate manual milling machines, CNC machines, and bend saws.
- Prepare and load raw materials onto machines.
- Adjust machine settings according to engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Production & Process Management
- Follow manufacturing operations procedures and work instructions.
- Manage daily production inventory, stock, and schedules.
- Participate in the full cycle of production, from raw material preparation to finished product.
- Quality Assurance
- Perform QA inspections and verify finished goods against specifications.
- Generate inspection and non-conformance reports when needed.
- Conduct machine buy-off activities before production runs.
- Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (dimensions and tolerances).
- Use basic measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Knowledge of sheet metal drawing and surface finishing is advantageous.
- Teamwork & Training
- Work closely with management and other departments to plan production schedules.
- Provide guidance, training, and coaching to team members when required.
- Skills & Requirements
- Technical Competence: CNC/milling machine operation, blueprint reading, measuring tools.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in machining and inspection.
- Team Player: Works well with minimal supervision, but also able to train others.
- Safety Awareness: Adherence to safety briefings and secure work environment.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and participate across all stages of production.
