Material planner (automotive industry)

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Material Planner to manage inventory planning, material requirements, and supplier coordination within the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal stock levels to support workshop operations, minimize aging inventory, and maintain smooth supply chain flow.

1. Material Planning & Inventory Management

• Plan and forecast material requirements based on demand, operation schedules, and consumption trends
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimum stock (Min/Max levels)
• Ensure FIFO / FEFO practices are implemented to reduce aging stock
• Analyze slow-moving and excess inventory and propose corrective actions
• Generate monthly inventory reports

1. Procurement & Supplier Coordination

• Liaise with suppliers on delivery schedules, lead times, and shipment tracking
• Follow up on open Purchase Orders to ensure timely delivery
• Coordinate with procurement team for replenishment planning
• Monitor supplier performance (OTD, shortages, quality issues)

1. Demand Planning & Operations Support

• Work closely with workshop operations to align stock with installation forecasts
• Support surge demand planning (e.g., project-based or tender-based supply)
• Coordinate inter-warehouse stock transfers when required
• Ensure critical parts availability to prevent service disruption

1. System & Data Management

• Maintain accurate material master data in ERP system
• Monitor GRN and issuance records
• Prepare inventory dashboards and stock movement analysis
• Support stock take exercises and reconciliation

1. Cost Control & Optimization

• Identify opportunities for cost savings through bulk planning or consolidation
• Reduce emergency purchases and minimize logistics costs
• Monitor inventory holding cost and aging stock

• Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or related field
• 3–5 years of experience in material planning / inventory planning in automotive industry
• Strong understanding of automotive spare parts management
• Familiar with ERP systems (SAP / Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic data analysis)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Able to work independently and in a fast-paced environment

• Experience in automotive workshop or vehicle equipment environment
• Knowledge of demand forecasting and inventory optimization models
• Experience managing project-based inventory

• 5 Days Work Week (Monday to Friday)
