The Head of Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping reputation, driving alignment, and amplifying GSK’s voice to position GSK for success across the International Region. This role supports policy advocacy, strategic business priorities, and disease awareness while fostering trust and engagement across diverse markets.
Position Summary
The Head of Communications – International Region will lead internal and external communications strategy, serving as a trusted advisor to the Regional President and International Leadership Team (ILT). This role also partners with market-based communicators to ensure cohesive, impactful messaging while managing media engagement, issues management, and storytelling to enhance reputation and strengthen cultural cohesion.
Through collaboration with stakeholders across Commercial and Global & Regional Communications & Government Affairs (CGA), the Head of Communications ensures alignment of communications strategies with GSK’s mission, values, and regional priorities.
Key Responsibilities
External Communications & Reputation- Lead proactive media engagement to support policy shaping, disease awareness, and advocacy efforts in coordination with Commercial and Global CGA teams.
- Develop and execute reputation-building campaigns that highlight GSK’s leadership, innovation, and public health impact.
- Manage external issues and crisis communications with consistency and alignment to global strategy.
- Partner with CGA and Policy teams to amplify advocacy platforms through earned media and thought leadership initiatives.
- Design and deliver internal communications strategies that foster trust, alignment, and ambition across the International Region.
- Create storytelling channels, recognition programs, and strategic dialogues to empower teams and reinforce GSK’s mission and values.
- Support the Regional President and ILT with messaging, engagement strategies, and leadership visibility initiatives.
- Drive accountability and cultural cohesion through transparent, values-driven communication.
- Serve as communications lead for regional strategic initiatives, launches, and transformation programs.
- Partner directly with the Regional President on enterprise-wide engagements with key stakeholders such as the Economic Development Board (EDB) in Singapore.
- Align closely with Global Communications, CGA, and Market Communications Leads to ensure coherence and agility across all touchpoints.
- Embed communications planning into business rhythms, including town halls, leadership forums, and market visits.
- Monitor sentiment, media trends, and stakeholder feedback to inform strategy and mitigate reputational risks.
Qualifications/Skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- Proven experience leading strategic communications in a multinational, matrixed environment—ideally in healthcare or regulated industries.
- Strong understanding of policy shaping, media dynamics, and reputation management across diverse geographies.
- Track record of designing internal communications that drive alignment, culture, and performance.
- Experience managing sensitive issues and crises with discretion, speed, and strategic foresight.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
- Expertise in navigating ambiguity and delivering high-impact messaging with clarity and confidence.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and external partners.
- Strong ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive alignment and deliver measurable outcomes.
Work Arrangement
This role requires on-site presence with occasional travel across the International Region.
