About the role
VALENMERE Pte. Ltd is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to join our growing technology team in Singapore River Central Region. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to take ownership of our database infrastructure and contribute to the success of our IT operations.As Database Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our database systems, playing a critical role in supporting our business objectives and maintaining the integrity of our data assets.
Key responsibilities- Installing, configuring, and maintaining database management systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Monitoring database performance and implementing tuning strategies to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime
- Performing regular database backups and testing recovery procedures to ensure data protection and business continuity
- Managing user access, permissions, and authentication to maintain database security and compliance with organisational policies
- Troubleshooting and resolving database issues promptly to minimise impact on business operations
- Conducting capacity planning and recommending upgrades or architectural changes as needed
- Documenting database configurations, procedures, and changes for audit and operational purposes
- Collaborating with application developers, IT teams, and stakeholders to support database requirements and integration
- Implementing and maintaining security measures including encryption, access controls, and monitoring for potential vulnerabilities
What we're looking for
This Job is only for SINGAPOREAN resource- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar database management role for at least 3-5 years
- Strong proficiency in database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent platforms
- In-depth knowledge of database design, architecture, and optimization principles
- Solid understanding of backup and disaster recovery procedures and implementation
- Experience with database security best practices, including encryption, authentication, and access control management
- Competency in scripting and automation using SQL, Python, Bash, or similar languages
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically under pressure
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Associate Database Administrator (OCA), Microsoft Certified: Data Administrator, or equivalent qualifications are advantageous
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is highly desirable
