Lactation Nurse (Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital)

The Role:

Implement practices that protect, promote and support exclusive breastfeeding and provide quality patient care for the inpatients by updating knowledge and skill through continued education and development.

Key Accountabilities:

• Demonstrate competency in core and specialty skills
• Maintain current trends in nursing practice through formal education and self-development
• Assist the Nurse Manager/Nurse Clinician/Assistant Nurse Clinician/Clinical Educator in implementation, assessment and evaluation of nurses’ competencies in relation to breastfeeding
• Conduct breastfeeding classes for nurses to enhance their knowledge and skills in assisting mothers with breastfeeding
• Provide quality and appropriate parentcraft services including documentation, and make appropriate changes in care delivery
• Maintain record, statistics, and schedule for lactation service
• Review and develop hospital policies/programmes/ initiatives relating to breastfeeding
• Participate in internal and external events presentation to promote the organisation’s maternity services
• Any other ad hoc duties assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma in Nursing and recognised by Singapore Nursing Board, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar job position and department
• Must be a Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board and has a valid IBCLC Certificate
• 5-day work week from Mon-Sat, AM and afternoon shifts required
