Mechanic/ Automotive Technician (Heavy Vehicle)

Job Description:

• Perform routine servicing on heavy vehicles and trailers, including oil changes, brake adjustments, electrical system and component lubrication.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in engines, transmissions, differentials, and clutches.
• Conduct thorough inspections of trailers, including landing gear, suspension systems, and air coupling mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical faults using diagnostic software and wiring diagrams.
• Repair and replace wiring looms, lighting systems, and electronic control units (ECUs).
• Diagnose issues with starting and charging systems.
• Maintain, diagnose, and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, hoses, and cylinders.
• Perform pressure tests and adjust hydraulic systems to manufacturer specifications (e.g., on tippers, loaders, or tail lifts).
• Carry out basic welding and cutting tasks for repairs on chassis, bodywork, and exhaust systems.
• Assist with minor fabrication work as required.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the workshop environment.
• Ensure all work performed meets roadworthiness standards and company quality benchmarks.
• Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent.

Requirements:

• At least NITEC/Higher NITEC/ Diploma in Automotive Technology, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy truck or trailer maintenance.
• Good knowledge of heavy vehicle mechanical systems, including pneumatic brakes and suspension.
• Experience in hydraulic system troubleshooting and repair.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle electrical diagnostics and repair.
• Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication work.
• Possess Class 3 driving license (not a must)
• Experience with truck brands such as Hino, UD, MAN, or similar will be an advantage
