Underwriting Manager (Direct Insurer)

My Client is a leading provider of insurance solutions, committed to innovation, service excellence, and creating value for our clients. We’re looking for a strategic and results-driven P&C Underwriting Manager to lead our underwriting team and help drive profitable growth in our property and casualty lines.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a lean team of underwriting executives, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
• Develop, implement, and monitor underwriting strategies, guidelines, and best practices.
• Analyze underwriting results and make recommendations for improving risk selection and pricing strategies.
• Monitoring of trends against budget/target at both portfolio and segment level, Accident Year and Financial Year basis
• Escalate anomalies observed with cause-and-effect to Singapore CEO.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, product development, and sales teams to support business objectives.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity.
• Evaluate complex risks and provide approval on high-value or non-standard accounts.
• Contribute to training and development programs for underwriters and support staff.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in property and casualty underwriting, with at least 1 year in a leadership or management role.
• Strong technical knowledge across key lines of business (e.g., property, liability, auto, etc.).
• Proven ability to lead teams and develop underwriting talent.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
