Business Function

Risk Management Group works closely with our business partners to manage the bank’s risk exposure by balancing its objective to maximise returns against an acceptable risk profile. We partner with origination teams to provide financing, investments and hedging opportunities to our customers.

Responsibilities

This is a role in Consumer Banking Group (“CBG”) Country Credit Risk team, supporting Head, Unsecured Policy & Portfolio Management to drive key strategic business priorities pertaining to consumer credit risk portfolio management and managing portfolio quality and credit risk for unsecured lending products to achieve robust consumer credit risk management capabilities, scalable operating effectiveness and quality business growth.

  • Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and implement advanced strategies for managing a healthy consumer lending portfolio (unsecured), incorporating best-in-class risk practices. This includes establishing a consumer credit risk management playbook and defining risk appetite for key lending portfolios.
  • Generate analytics-based insights on portfolio management and critical credit risk metrics to enhance portfolio performance. This involves continuous monitoring of guardrails, triggers for key portfolios, timely escalation with solutions.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate emerging risks within the unsecured lending portfolio, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement innovative credit risk strategies that support business growth while maintaining a strong risk profile.
  • - Job Duties & responsibilities
  • Regularly review and update credit policies and program risk acceptance criteria, leveraging analytical insights derived from portfolio trends and performance data.
  • Spearhead portfolio management initiatives through the credit cycle management framework, collaborating effectively with product managers, credit approval, credit operations, and collection teams.
  • Monitor key portfolio performance trends to ensure robust credit quality, balancing risk and reward to optimize business opportunities while adhering to business strategy and risk appetite.
  • Engage business partners in regular asset quality reviews, providing data-driven insights to identify risks and opportunities for optimizing profitability and volumes while maintaining balanced credit quality.
  • Oversee scorecard monitoring and analysis, participating in scorecard development and validation of score cut-offs.
  • Contribute to digital initiatives and drive continuous improvement in analytics capabilities, utilizing both traditional and non-traditional data sources and enhancing the use of risk analytics tools.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and digitization of credit processes.
  • Manage budget for credit loss/non-performing loans, forecasting, stress testing, collector KPI review, and trigger setting. May also contribute to credit reporting activities.

Requirements

The candidate should have a bachelors degree and at least minimum 8 years of proven experience in consumer credit risk management (in portfolio management and data analytics).

  • Strong Programming skills (Python, SAS, SQL, R etc.)

  • Technical Competencies
  • Deep understanding of credit fundamentals in consumer lending.
  • Ability to analyze risk-reward dynamics of consumer products using data-driven analytics.
  • Solid understanding of the mechanics and usage of statistical models/scorecards for consumer products.
  • Proficiency in Python, SAS, and MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
