The Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) at the NIE in Singapore is committed to discovery and innovation in sciences and science education. Comprising faculty from both science content and pedagogical disciplines, we adopt an inter-disciplinary approach to teaching and research.Our science education researchers focus mainly on maximizing the potential of every child through research on students' learning approaches and problem-solving skills, and work with teachers to develop models of creative teaching and new approaches to learning.
Faculty members receive research support through internal and external grants, as well as access to world-class research facilities.
The NSSE invites applications for Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Physics to join its interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
Successful candidates must have:
- A basic degree in Physics or Science and Engineering related subject and a PhD in Physics
- Be able to teach undergraduate and postgraduate Physics courses in English
- Good track record of publication in top-tier, peer-reviewed international journals and/or highly cited publications
- Post-doctoral research experience and prior teaching experience at undergraduate/graduate level are desirable for Assistant Professor position and are must for Associate Professor position.
Additional points for consideration:
- Teaching qualifications, teaching experience in schools, familiarity with the Singapore education system and curriculum
- Post-doctoral research experience for Assistant Professor
- Leadership and administrative experience for Associate Professor
- Prior experience in conducting professional development courses for teachers
- Teaching and conducting research in multilingual and multicultural environments
- Ability to contribute to teaching of advanced courses in molecular physics, spectroscopy, medical physics, clean energy and nuclear physics, optics, and photonics.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be:
- conceptualizing, teaching, and grading undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Physics
- be supervising students in physics projects (BSc, MSc and PhD), practicum attachments and course assignments
- be expected to publish in top-tier, peer-reviewed international education journals and offer in service courses, consultancy and professional services to schools, the Ministry of Education, and other public education-related organizations upon request.
However, candidates are encouraged to develop new research programs and courses in areas of their interest.

The position offers a 4-year contract position in the first instance, beginning earliest in Jan 2026.
